Chandigarh : September 15 : A 84-Years-Old Mr. Satpal Sharma, a resident of sector15/A, Chandigarh, dedicated to the cause of poor and destitute patients, showcased exemplary generous gesture and lent a helping hand to the needy patients as he donated Rs.1,00,000/-(Rupees One Lakh Only) for the Poor Patient Welfare Fund of PGIMER today.
Mr Satpal Sharma handed over the cheque amounting Rs.1,00,000/-(Rupees One Lakh Only) to Prof. A.K.Gupta, Dean (Research) cum Medical Superintendent, PGIMER in his office in PGIMER in the august presence of Dr. Navneet Dhaliwal, Associate Prof., Deptt. of Hospital Administration and other senior functionaries of the Institute.
Expressing his gratitude and thanking for his benevolent act, Prof. A.K.Gupta stated, “With his compassionate initiative, Mr. Sharma has also set a role model for others to emulate as supporting and hand-holding the destitute patients is a true service to mankind. There are people who don’t donate because they assume everyone else is, and there are those who take up the torch and run with it. Thank you for being the latter and for your kind and heart-warming donation.”
We would urge people to celebrate their special days like birthday, wedding anniversary or any other special day etc. by contributing to the poor patients. There cannot be anything more cherishable then helping someone on your special day, added Prof. Gupta
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Satpal Sharma who believes in supporting need-specific, charitable health facilities shared “I had been thinking about helping the poor patients for a while but could not figure out how to go about it. However, a news item in a local newspaper regarding PGIMER’s initiative to help the poor patients showed me the way to fulfil my long cherished desire.” He also added that the Almighty has assigned us some duty to make our lives worthwhile. There will never be scarcity if all of us share his abundant gifts with others. This will give us peace which no material possession can ensure.
The donations are accepted either through cheque (in favour of Director PGIMER) or demand drafts at the Poor Patient Welfare Fund near the Main Reception, Nehru Hospital under section 80G of the income tax act. Institute has also started the facility of online donations on the Institute website- pgimer.edu.in. After making a donation directly to the PGIs Poor Patient Fund account, the person can download a receipt too. The donors need not physically come to the poor patient cell of PGIMER to donate.
PGIMER appeals to the public to generously donate for this fund so that the poor patients are provided with super speciality health care.
