Chandigarh, 01 October: Research Scholar’s Association, ABMS in collaboration with ARD, PGI-NWA and SAPT celebrated Diamond Jubilee Event (season-3) at PGIMER Chandigarh.
To celebrate PGIMER’s 60-year completion, Association of Basic Medical Scientists (ABMS-PGI) in collaboration with Resident’s Association (ARD-PGI), Nursing Association (PGI-NWA)and Physiotherapy Student’s Association (SAPT) organised acultural event on Friday, 30th September at Bhargava auditorium. The Director of the Institute, Prof. Vivek Lal and Dean Academics, Prof. Rakesh Sehgal inaugurated the evening with lamp lightning followed by the Saraswati Vandana performed by the research scholars of the Institute. The evening was graced by the Deputy Director of the Institute, Sh. Kumar Gaurav Dhawan along with the faculties from other departments of the Institute.
In his inaugural speech, Director PGIMER, Prof. Vivek Lal emphasized on the importance of research and our country’s overall contribution to scientific development worldwide.He acknowledged the contributions from researchers in making the institute proud in world platform since long. The Researcher association took this opportunity to felicitate the alumnus of the Institute who are now the faculties at different departments. Eminent scientist and current head of the dept. of Translational Science and Regenerative Medicine, Dr. Sunil K Arora followed it up with an interactive speechwhere hestressed on the urgent developmental needs of the research infrastructure of the Institute. The Director further assured that he will closely monitor the issues and make sure the researchers of the Institute do not suffer.
The cultural events of the evening were the show stoppersin true sense. The research scholars designed a ramp walk to display the theme ‘unity in diversity’ amongst the researchers by representing different states of the country and their unified goal in making the nation proud through science. The talented scholars made everyone stuck to their seats with elegantly designed performances which included Yoga show, skit, Gujrati dance, solo song and dance performances, Bhangra, traditional Himachalifolk dance Nati, musical performance by Prof. Biman Saikia from the dept. of Immunopathology, ABMS band ‘Sukoon’ and ARD band etc. The program was sponsored by Al-Basir Industries, NGB diagnostics, Nano Care Scientific, Batra Pharmaceuticals, Genex Life Sciences, Ahuja Agencies. The fun filled program ended with a vote of thanks by the ABMS current panel membersto the gathering.
