Amritsar, March 15: As a part of G20 2nd EdWG Meeting, Ministry of Education organised a multimedia exhibition on the sidelines of the seminar by partnering with IIT Ropar at Khalsa College, Amritsar on 15th March 2023. Chief Minister of Punjab, Sh. Bhagwant Mann inaugurated the exhibition and was also provided a special tour of the same by the officials.
More than 90 stalls are set up in this exhibition which includes NCERT, NBT (National Book Trust), NSDC, IKS (Indian Knowledge System), IDEAS Technology Innovation Hub at ISI Kolkata, Punjab Tourism, IIM Amritsar, IIT Mandi, IIT Ropar and several other start-ups. The objective of the exhibition is to provide first hand exposure to, and learning with respect to research and collaboration in education.
The exhibition was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Punjab, Shri Bhagwant Mann, who praised the efforts of IIT Ropar in organizing the exhibition and commended the range of innovative technologies and ideas on display. In his appreciation, he said, "It is heartening to see the kind of innovations and ideas being developed in our institutions. Exhibitions like this are a great platform to showcase and highlight the potential of such ideas and technologies to drive positive change in our society."
Secretary Higher Education, Shri K. Sanjay Murthy also took a round of the exhibition and appreciated the exhibits. "It is inspiring to see the kind of work being done by our institutions and organizations to tackle some of the most pressing issues facing our society. The technologies and ideas on display here are a testament to the spirit of innovation and creativity that drives our institutions," he said.
This exhibition provides a physical space to the G20 member countries, invitee countries academia and industry to share the best practices on the priority area ‘Strengthening Research and Promoting Innovation through richer Collaboration.’ G20 delegate country Saudi Arabia also set up a stall at the exhibition focussing on the governments initiatives to support research & innovation such as institutional funding, R&I Partnerships and development of entrepreneurial capabilities.
Delegates were impressed by the variety of technologies and ideas on display, with many emphasising the potential impact that these innovations could have on society. The exhibition provided an excellent opportunity for officials and delegates to learn about new ideas and technologies that could benefit society. Two other standout exhibits included-The Roshni app and Mudra Drishti app from IIT Ropar, which offer assistive technologies for visually impaired individuals, and the SAMPAN and SAMPAN Lite app, also from IIT Ropar, which are designed to assist Anganwadi workers in tracking and analysing data related to malnourishment and body mass index of children.
The exhibition will be open to local institutions, students, academicians and researchers from 16th-17th March, 2023. Following the day’s activities will be the two-day working group meeting to be held from 16th-17th March, 2023.
