Chandigarh, 30 November: 48th ACBICON2022, the National Conference Association of Clinical Biochemists of India,was held in New Delhi from 24-26 November 2022. Faculties, residents and research scholars from the Department of Biochemistry attended the conference and brought various laurels to the Institute. Professor Arnab Pal conferred with prestigious Mrs. & Dr G. P. Talwar Oration inrecognition of his outstanding contribution to the advances in clinicalBiochemistry. This award is given annually to distinguished biochemists for contribution in the advancement in the field of biochemistry and clinical biochemistry. His work constitutes new biomarker discovery in oral cancer. This includes biomarkers from saliva for early diagnosis and liquid biopsy-based identification of circulating tumour cells from blood of oral cancer patients, as a pioneering work first time in India.
Dr. Prasenjit Mitra ,Assistant Professor has been re-elected for the post of Joint Secretary of ACBI for 2022-23. Professor Jyotdeep Kaur continued as the ACBI State Representative of Chandigarh. Amongst the students ofDeptt. of Biochemistry, Ms. Anshika Chauhan was awarded the prestigious Dr.C. Sita Devi Award for her research work on circulating tumour cells. Mrs.Maninder Kaur was awarded MGIMS (Sevagram) award on tropical diseases for her work in diabetes and tuberculosis co-pathogenesis. Sir Ganga RamHospital award on translational research for best oral paper was awarded to Mr. Parampal Singh. Dr. Apoorva Aggarwal, Junior Resident was presented with Dr.P Usha Sarma award for the best poster presentation. ACBI Young Scientists Bursary awards were presented to Ms. Rajandeep Kaur and Ms.Anshika Chauhan while ACBI travel fellowship was awarded to Dr. Shruti Gupta, a senior resident. AFMS quiz certificate of excellence award waspresented to Ms. Himanshi Goyal.
