Chandigarh, 20 July: Van Mahotsav in the form of MAGIC Mela-2022 is being celebrated with fervour in Chandigarh where Hon’ble Governor Sh.Banwarilal Purohit kick started the plantation festival by establishing Amrut Van on 13th July, 2022.
In this series, the Forest Department, UT Chandigarh organized a Plantation Programme at Police Complex, Dhanas today on 20th July, 2022. Sh. Praveer Ranjan, IPS, Director General of Police, UT Chandigarh graced the occasion as Chief Guest and planted a ‘Sita Ashok’ sapling.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Praveer Ranjan, IPS, DGP stated that plant means life. He also applauded the effort of the Department in maintaining the greenery of City. He further stated that Police Department is committed to whole heartedly participate in the plantation drive and contribute towards enhancing the greenery.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh.Debendra Dalai, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests, UT Chandigarh said that trees contribute immensely to the mankind such as production of food resources, maintain ecological balance, improve air quality, climate amelioration, conserves soil and water, supports wildlife, reduces drought and checks environmental pollution. Van Mahotsav aims to bring more and more people together to grow and save forests.
The function was attended by Sh. Raj Kumar Singh, IPS, IGP, Sh.Deepak Purohit, IPS, DIGP, Ms. Manisha Choudhary, IPS, SSP, Mr. Kuldeep Singh Chahal, IPS, SSP, Mr. Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS Sh. Ketan Bansal, IPS Ms. Shruti Arora, IPS, Sh.Arulrajan P., IFS, DCF (BG&NR), Dr.Abdul Qayum, IFS, DCF (WL) and other officers of the department, Police and Forest deptt personnel and school children.
